If I simply ask you to come up with some catchy phrases related to health, you may come up with quite many in your mind, such as “Health is Wealth”, “An Apple a day keeps the Doctor away”, “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”, and probably many more. But do you really think these phrases really mean something in our life or were they just meant to be said just like that?

Health indeed is important, and despite it being our own, maintaining it is no mean feat. Our lifestyle today has changed a lot from what it used to be a couple of decades ago. Today we work in a 24×7 environment, eat anything that tastes delicious and at no fixed time, and with the fast-paced life have the least amount of time left to rest, let alone work out. All such little things may seem insignificant for some time, but after a time you could see the difference yourself.

Of all the things that could help us maintain a healthy lifestyle, you may not believe it, but a sound sleep of 6-8 hours and when taken at the right time can actually help you in staying healthy. Several benefits are attached to sleeping early, and several doctors and research analysts have emphasized upon this factor besides few others as a determining factor for a healthy lifestyle. But how is it that you can actually derive benefits by going to bed early?

  • Improved Memory: You may have noticed just how attentive you used to be in school but don’t feel the same anymore. This is just because you are not taking your sleep on time. Proper sleep recharges your body and reduces your stress levels so that you can feel optimistic and fresh all day long.
  • Be more creative: If your mind is free from stress and you aren’t feeling drowsy, you will be surprised to see that you are actually able to create ideas that even your peers were not able to come up with. Proper sleep when taken during night pumps up your blood levels and removes all levels of stress from your body, leaving your mind revitalized.
  • Healthier Heart: When you are not taking proper sleep, your body experiences worse levels of hypertension, thus raising your blood pressure. As per a research done back in 2008, it was deduced that your heart rate and blood pressure goes down during night time, thus reducing considerable pressure off your heart. By staying up at that time, you won’t be giving your heart time to recover the stress you accumulated during daytime.
  • Stronger Immune System: When your body is healthy, you are not only likely to lead a healthier life but would also be able to curb chances of attaining several kinds of diseases, including some fatal ones such as heart attack or even cancer.
