Design & Build
iPhones are famous for their premium quality design and most attractive looks. Although, past few iPhone models were similar but from iPhone 6, Apple redesigned their smartphones according to the customers demand for slim and sleek body with a bigger screen. Both iPhone 6 and 6s are thinner than their any other predecessors. Although, the design of iPhone 6 and 6s are almost identical, there are some dimensional and weight differences between these two. Both phones have aluminum which smooth and slippery.

Both iPhone 6 and 6s have 4.7 inches display with a technology of LED-backlit IPS LCD. In addition to the capacitive multi touch display in iPhone 6, 6s brings another unique feature of force touch also known as the 3D Touch, which is able to sense the different exerted pressure levels on the display and behave differently. Both of the displays have same screen resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels with a same great pixel density of 326 PPI. Instead of using Corning Gorilla glass like previous models, iPhone 6 and 6s have used Ion-strengthened glass with oleophobic coating as the display protection. iPhone 6 has a Screen to body ratio of 65.8% and the 6s has 65.6%; which is also almost identical to the iPhone 6 but only 0.2% less. Both the displays are vigorously colorful and eye catching sharpness with no viewing angle issue.
iPhone 6 and 6s supports a greater range of 3G and 4G bands with LTE Cat.4 (LTE Cat.6 for iPhone 6s), Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Hgh Definition voice & WiFi calling protocols. To cast screen wirelessly to HDTVs AirPlay can be used. Bluetooth 4 LE (4.2 LE for iPhone 6s) and NFC are also there but with limited functionality. For wired data transfer and charging, Lightning connector is available. But unfortunately, still there is no support for USB On The Go (USB OTG) in Apple smartphones.
Chipset & Memory
Most of the difference between Apple iPhone 6 and 6s are lying inside the device. Apple iPhone 6 is powered by the Apple A8 chipset which consists of a Dual core 1.4 GHz Typhoon, ARM v8 based central processing unit and a graphics processing unit of PowerVR GX6450 which is a Quad core GPU. It has a DDR3 class RAM of 1GB. On the other hand, iPhone 6s is powered with an Apple A9 chipset which is definitely an upgrade version of previous A8 Chipset.
It has a Dual core CPU, named Twister; with an increased clock speed of 1.84 GHz. Its PowerVR GT7600 is a hexa core GPU. iPhone 6s brings massive change in its RAM (2 Gigabytes), as it is now exactly the double of the previous iPhone model. Both the iPhones can be found in three different internal storage sizes; 16GB, 64GB and 128GB.
iPhone 6 camera introduces the new faster Phase Detection Autofocus into its 8MP cam with F/2.2 aperture and 1.5 µm pixel size. The camera has almost all advanced functionalities that a smartphone camera can possess; like, face and smile detection, touch focus, geo-tagging, HDR (photo/panorama) etc.
It can shoot video in Full HD resolution (1080p) maximum at 60 frames per second and HD (720p) at max 240 frames per second; which helps it to record slow motion clips. The rear camera has a Dual LED, Dual Tone flash for capturing a better image during night and low light scenarios. Front facing camera of 1.2MP; though not increased in mega pixels, the sensor now can capture 81% more light according to Apple’s claim. The front cam can also detect faces, capture in HDR and shoot a video in 720p at 30 frames per second. This cam can also be used for video calling via internet through FaceTime and other third party software like, Skype.
As the latest version, iPhone 6s is equipped with a bigger 12MP sensor camera with f/2.2 aperture, tinier 1.22 µm pixel size. In addition to all earlier functionalities of iPhone 6, an iPhone 6s can now record videos in 4K resolution (2160p) at 30 frames per second. It can shoot videos in different frame rates (e.g. 2160p at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps, 1080p at 120fps and 720p at 240fps). The camera can shoot 4k videos and 8MP still pictures simultaneously. A Dual LED flash is also there to assist in low light photography. Front camera is also much improved as it can now capture images in 5MP and record videos in Full HD/ 1080p at 30 fps. So, there is no doubt to say that the quality and the details in the captured images are much increased in iPhone 6s.
Touch ID and Apple Pay
The innovative idea of fingerprint sensor (Touch ID) is carried to iPhone 6 and 6s from iPhone 5s to work with more security. Touch ID sensor of iPhone 6 provides more room to place the finger comfortably then 5s. Not only by unlocking phone, It can be used to purchase apps and various products from Apple’s different stores like, itunes, iBooks, App store etc. Furthermore, Apple introduces its another new feature named, Apple Pay; which can keep your credit card information and help you in money transactions with the support of NFC and Touch ID.
IPhone 6s brings up its second generation fingerprint sensor; Touch ID 2 which has notably faster response than previous Touch ID.
Both the iPhone 6 and 6s provides non-user replaceable lithium polymer batteries. iPhone 6 has a battery of 1810 mAh whereas, iPhone 6s has a slightly less capacity of 1715 mAh. Standby time of iPhone 6 and 6s (while in a 3G network) are 250 hours and 240 hours respectively. But, we expect better performance by updating to Apple’s latest smartphone firmware, iOS 9.3.2.
