History of Brisbane Heat
In the Big Bash League 2011-12, the team has lost first four group stage matches, but still they had a chance to reach the semi-finals based on the NRR. They made a success on last three matches but didn’t qualify for the semi-final.
Brendon McCullum didn’t attend on some matches as he engaged with HRV Cup in New Zealand, at the same time Daniel Vettori missed some matches as of injury and the team captain James Hopes was unable to play the whole tournament because of his injury. Finally, they have ended the tournament at fifth out of eight on the BBL points table.
In the Big Bash League 2012-13 Final, Brisbane Heat defeated the Perth Scorchers on the Big Bash Final at the WACA Ground on 19 January 2013 and won the title for the first time. The team Captain James Hopes didn’t play due to his injury on the Big Bash Final. Chris Hartley, the Vice-captain has won the toss and selected to bat first.
Joe Burns was the highest scorer on the match for Brisbane, scored 43 runs off 27 balls. The final score of the Heat’s innings was 167/5 where Scorcher’s Jason Behrendorff took 2 wickets. In the reply, Scorchers scored 133/9 after 20 overs, lost by 34 runs. Adam Voges was scored highest 49 runs from 32 balls. Nathan Hauritz was the man of the Final who bowled three overs for 11 runs and took three important catches.
In the Big Bash League 2013/14, Heat started well with the winning their first match against the Scorchers. But they lost out in many close games over in the season. They struggled hard but failed to qualify for the knockouts, finished the season in 5th place.

Daniel Vettori was bowled very well as his lowest economy rate (just over 6) and picking up 7 wickets. The best of the batsman was Chris Lynn scored 198 runs.
