The National Flag Of Belgium Was officially Adopted on January 23, 1831. Belgium Flag was designed to signify Belgium’s recognition as an independent country. The Color Of The Flag Of Belgium Is Black, Yellow, And Red. The Color Black Black is taken from the shield of the arms. Red is adapted from the lion’s claws and tongue. Yellow is the color of the lion in the arms. red representing the lion’s claws and tongue.

The vertical layout is taken from the French Tricolore. Following centuries of foreign domination, Belgium finally gained international recognition as an independent kingdom in 1830. The Belgian colors black, yellow and red derive from the arms of Brabant, a black shield with a gold lion having red tongue and claws. The first Belgium Flag in these colors, but with horizontal stripes, appeared in 1792 in a revolt against Austrian rule. On independence in 1831, they were changed to vertical in imitation of the French Tricolore.

On 26 August 1830, the day after the rioting at the Brussels Opera and the start of the Belgian Revolution, the flag of France flew from the city hall of Brussels. The insurgents hastily replaced it with a tricolor of red, yellow and black horizontal stripes made at a nearby fabric store. As a result, Article 193 of the Constitution of Belgium describes the colors of the Belgian nation as Red, Yellow and Black instead of using the order shown in the official flag.
