The current Guernsey flag was adopted on April 30, 1985, when the gold cross was added to distinguish the Guernsey flag from the flag of England. Guernsey is a British Crown dependency and a member of the Channel Islands. The islands were the only British soil occupied by German troops in World War II. And many people from Guernsey were deported to German camps.
