Denver Is The Largest City Of Colorado. With a population of over 600,158 (2010 census), Denver is the most populous city and the State Capital of Colorado. The third largest city in Colorado in Aurora With a population of approximately 325,078 people, ranking as the 54th most populated US city. Aurora is a Home Rule Municipality in the U.S. state of Colorado, spanning Arapahoe and Adams counties, with the extreme southeastern portion of the city extending into Douglas County. Aurora is one of the principal cities of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area.

3. Fort Collins

The fourth largest city of Colorado in Fort Collins, which is the county seat of Larimer County. The city is located on the banks of the Cache La Poudre River, about 56 km north of Denver, and has a population of about 143,986. Fort Collins is a midsize college city and home to Colorado State University.

4. Lakewood

Located in Jefferson County, Lakewood is Colorado’s fifth largest city, with a population of 142,980 in 2010. Situated west of Denver, the city is included as part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood CO Metropolitan Statistical Area.

5. Thornton

The City of Thornton is a Home Rule Municipality in Adams and Weld counties in the U.S. state of Colorado, located in the northeast quadrant of the Denver-Aurora-Broomfield, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The United States Census Bureau reported the city’s growing population at 118,772 on April 1, 2010, a 44.2% increase from the 2000 Census population of 82,384.
