Bicycling Is The State Sport of Delaware. Delaware Accepted Bicycling as the official State sport in 2014. Cycling, also called or bicycling, is the use of bicycles for transport, recreation or sport. People engaged in cycling are referred to as “cyclists” or As “bicyclists”. Delaware State Sports Bicycles were introduced in the 19th century and now number approximately one billion worldwide. Bicycling Is the principal means of transportation in many parts of the world.

State Sport of Delaware Cycling is widely regarded as a very effective and efficient mode of transportation optimal for short to moderate distances. Delaware State Sports Bicycles provide numerous benefits in comparison with motor vehicles, including the sustained physical exercise involved in cycling, easier parking, increased maneuverability, and access to roads, bike paths, and rural trails. State Butterfly of Delaware

The Brilliant Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly was designated the official State Butterfly of Delaware June 10, 1999. The Scientific Name of  Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly Is “Pterourus glaucus”. The Delaware State Butterfly tiger swallowtail butterfly is indigenous to Delaware and can be seen in deciduous woods, along streams, rivers, wooded swamps, and in towns and cities throughout the state.  

For State Butterfly of Delaware, Three butterflies were chosen by students of the Richardson Park Learning Center as possible state butterflies, and a vote that included students throughout the state elected the tiger swallowtail as Delaware State Butterfly symbol. Papilio glaucus, the eastern tiger swallowtail, is a species of swallowtail butterfly native to eastern North America.

Delaware State Butterfly is one of the most familiar butterflies in the eastern United States. P. glaucus has a wingspan measuring 7.9 to 14 cm (3.1 to 5.5 in). The male State Butterfly of Delaware is yellow with four black “tiger stripes” on each forewing. Females Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly may be either yellow or black, making them dimorphic.
