Pennsylvania officially the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is a state located in the northeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. The Commonwealth is bordered by Delaware to the southeast, Maryland to the south, West Virginia to the southwest, Ohio to the west, Lake Erie and the Canadian province of Ontario to the northwest, New York to the north, and New Jersey to the east. The U.S. state of Pennsylvania has 21 official emblems and Symbols. Every Symbol is designated by the Pennsylvania General Assembly and signed into law by the Governor of Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is the first state of the fifty United States to list their web site URL on a license plate. Drake Well Museum in Titusville is on the site where Edwin L. Drake drilled the world’s first oil well in 1859 and launched the modern petroleum industry. Pennsylvania is known as the Keystone State for its role in building the foundations of the United States of America. it is here that the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, and the Gettysburg Address were written.
